Travel Quotes

I once heard a definition of travel that its “to proceed or advance in any way.” I always liked hearing it put that way. I think when you’re young and traveling, you’re holding yourself open to the world and saying to it,
“I’m open to anything.
Define me.”

"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeing new landscapes, but in having new eyes." -Marcel Proust

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines,
sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover."
-Mark Twain

"Life is short and the world is wide." -Simon Raven

"What you've done becomes the judge of what you're going to do -- especially in other people's minds. When you're travelling, you are what you are right there and then. People don't have your past to hold against you. No yesterdays on the road." -William Least Heat Moon, Blue Highways

"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost." -J. R. R. Tolkien
